Each Giving Tuesday, we celebrate the collective power of community and our shared commitment to justice. This year, that commitment matters more than ever.
From attacks on fundamental rights to the escalating climate emergency, organizations working at the intersections of justice, democracy, and sustainability are stretched thin while carrying the weight of protecting our communities and defending our future. Their work is urgent, and they cannot do it alone.
All year long, we invest in movements that are rising to meet this moment —groups that are building resilience in our democratic systems, defending civil liberties, and shaping a more just and sustainable future. We dedicate 1% of our revenue to mission-driven nonprofits, match employee contributions, and provide paid volunteer time to bolster the work happening on the frontlines.
This year, we are proud to support the following organizations among others:
Lucy Parsons Lab, Lucy Parsons Lab is a collaboration between data scientists, transparency activists, artists, & technologists that sheds light on the intersection of digital rights and on-the-streets issues. At Lucy Parsons Labs, they relentlessly expose the surveillance overreach by governments and corporations. As technological advancements are increasingly used to exploit Black, brown, and low-income communities, Lucy Parsons Lab will continue to provide expertise to the growing network of communities defending our rights.
American Promise, American Promise is a cross-partisan organization committed to winning the For Our Freedom Constitutional Amendment. They have a singular focus: to pass the For Our Freedom Amendment, which will allow the states and Congress to set reasonable limits on campaign spending, create lasting reform, topple the coercive impact of unregulated money in the political system, restore checks and balances, end pay-to-play politics, and most importantly, give the power and voice back to We The People.
Birth Justice Care, Brith Justice Care is a needs-based program serving residents of Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida. This fund addresses the maternal mortality crisis in the United States by supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) birthing people, particularly those in marginalized communities, throughout pregnancy and up to one year postpartum. The fund provides free, full-spectrum doula support, maternal mental health therapy, lactation assistance, and essential baby items. It also offers direct support to BIPOC birth workers who are exclusive partners of the fund. The ultimate goal of the Birth Justice Care Fund is to ensure that often underserved and under resourced groups have access to the birthing experience they want and need.
A number of other impactful organizations that we have supported in recent years include:
Pictured: The Zevin Asset Management team after volunteering at Haley House Roxbury, where we supported their upcoming reopening by helping clean, organize, and prep the space alongside Sisi JeanBaptiste, the TBK & LiFT Program Manager. Our day concluded with an insightful tour of Nubian Square led by Collin Knight of Live Like a Local Tours.
Additionally, many of our staff channel their expertise into supporting organizations that make an impact in and beyond their own communities. As one example, Sonia Kowal is a board member of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), a 50 year old coalition of faith - and values-driven organizations who view the management of their investments as a powerful catalyst for social change. An active member since 2007, Sonia has served on the organization’s board for almost a decade and also chairs its investment committee. She is also on the board of governors of the IAA, the Investor Adviser Association, the leading organization for fiduciary investment advisers for almost 90 years. Sonia is also a member of the Investment Subcommittee of AFSC (American Friends Service Committee), a Quaker organization that has challenged unjust systems and promoted lasting peace for over a century.
